There’s nothing like the country, old Arkansas style. Macks Pines area is across the street from the Ozark National Forest and has been family run for 18 years.

They’ve got horse stables, for those who bring the equine part of their family along, and a quaint café just in case you’re tired of cooler sandwiches. And if you don’t have an RV and don’t want to rough it in a tent, you can enjoy renting a cute little cabin instead.

For those who love canoeing, there are actually shuttle services available to a nearby canoeing site just 10 miles away. As far as the trail goes, you can bring anything from a motorbike on up, as even larger OHVs are allowed.

The well-shaded trails weave in and out through the trees. But bring a snorkel because there are water crossings every now and then, some of which are rather long and deep.

If you’re traveling to Macks Pines from Dover, Arkansas, just get on the SR-7 and drive north for 13 miles. Macks Pines campground will show up to the east of you on your right.
